Natural gas is a good choice

Gasoline and diesel spoil fairly quickly and you can't really store significant amounts unless you're actively replacing your supplies. Also, during a blackout gas station pumps may not work and there will most likely be a lot of people lining up for gas, making it a bit of a hassle.

Meanwhile natural gas lines will still work so long as the lines or compression stations have not been physically damaged. Compression stations also have backup generators that will keep the pipeline pressure up for several days.

Additionally natural gas generators are uncommon in most households, which means it's unlikely that the natural gas network will be overexhausted or run out even during a prolonged power outage.
